In Her Natural Habitat

Last weekend, I was on a mission to find a dress for my brother-in-law's upcoming beach wedding in Mexico. This proved really difficult. Everything I found was either too dressy or too casual... and being that it's January, there weren't too many options. Any any line that actually has a resort collection is typically out of my price range! So anyway, I failed this mission.

But I didn't come home empty handed!

I stopped in Old Navy to check out their sale and whaddyaknow, I accidentally bought an outfit. I say accidentally because when I tried these items on, I didn't put them on together. I was buying them as separate pieces. Today, however, I decided to try them all and look what I came up with.

(I really need to take advantage of my tripod! And clean my mirror.)

You can't really see my pants all that well, but there isn't much to see. Just black stretchy jeans with ankle zips. The button down top is really light. I have a feeling I'll be wearing it well into the summer.

Do you recognize these? After posting them last week, I just had to order them.
Can I tell you the best part about this outfit? It was ridiculously inexpensive.

Looking Forward

... to fall, that is. We've still got at least a month or two of summer weather here in SoCal. Well, maybe. It's been a strange year for weather here! In any case, summer isn't over but I cannot wait to get into fall clothes.

In Her Natural Habitat

I am so happy to have found a pair of dark wash jeans that are completely solid. There's no whiskering at the tops of the thighs, there's no fake fading on the thighs or the butt. Just all one solid dark blue. Thank goodness. All of those fades and marks just make my thighs appear wider. These ones are perfectly dark and masking.

P.S. These are my favorite summer wedges! They come in black, but I wanted them to yell at people when I walk by.

P is for Plaid, Pleats and Peep-Toe

I love the kind of correlation of this outfit. The shoes and the plaid are a little bit country western, yet the plaid and the military-inspired skirt have an idea of manual labor, all while staying pretty feminine. The bag, well, I just thought the color would look great next to the shirt and skirt!

More Popping and a Shopping Story

I try not to do two similar posts so close to each other, but I couldn't help myself. I was inspired by those shoes. Do you want to know why? Because they are currently on their way into my possession! I've been lacking a pair of black wedges for a long time, now. A couple months back, while my husband and I were out to dinner, he (yes HE, my husband!) spotted a girl wearing some super slick black wedges and commented on them. Sometimes, when he's feeling romantic, he wants to buy me shoes. Most other times, I have too many shoes and don't need any more. SO! This must have been a romantic moment as he suggested I find a pair of black wedges.

The next day, my husband sends me a link to the exact pair of shoes. I was so impressed at his ability to find those specific shoes. They ended up being these Charles David wedges, and WAY out of our budget. We kept looking and looking, to no avail, to find something comparable and within our shoe budget.

Then on Tuesday, I happened to do another search and found these gorgeous Aldo wedges marked down to $29.99 from $100! Unfortunately, today they are $34.98... so who knows how long they'll be discounted and for how much. But I snagged them at a good time.

Do you want to know how I got MORE of a bargain on them? Aldo sells on Amazon. My husband has an Amazon credit card with which he receives $25 gift certificates from as part of their rewards program. We happened to still have one of said certificates that had yet to be used. So after shipping and using the gift certificate code, we paid a whopping $8 for those beautiful black wedges.

I cannot wait to put them on!

Gone Fishing on the Pier

Walk the pier in this layered outfit. The layers make it perfect for those days where the sun is hot, but the breeze is cool. The embellished tank eliminates the need for a fussy necklace on a casual day. Add another splash of color while carrying your essentials in this yellow cross-body bag. Tie it all together with a pair of super fun boat shoes!
